Dispensaries & Retail Chains
The companies that own the stores: US multi-state operators (MSOs), single-state chains, Canadian retail banners and provincial Crown retailers. Each profile lists where the company has open stores, the banners it trades under, its house brands and who owns it — so vendors, investors and job-seekers can see who is actually behind the dispensary counter.
This is a list of the companies that own dispensaries, not a store finder. In the United States the big ones are multi-state operators (MSOs): because cannabis cannot cross state lines, an MSO holds a separate licence, cultivation site and store network in every state it enters, so the same company often trades under different banners from one state to the next. Alongside the MSOs sit large single-state chains (Lume in Michigan, Native Roots in Colorado, Sunburn in Florida) and brand-led retailers such as STIIIZY, Cookies and Jungle Boys, whose stores grew out of a product line. In Canada the shape is different: private chains dominate in Alberta, Ontario and the West, while Quebec sells only through the government-owned SQDC and New Brunswick's Crown retailer runs most of that province's stores.
Each profile shows where the company has open stores ("Operates in"), its store count as stated on its own site when we last checked, the banners it trades under, its house product brands and who owns it — ownership has been moving quickly, with lender-led restructurings and a consolidation wave led by Vireo Growth reshaping the roster through 2026. Chains of any size can be listed; the operator can claim its profile free from a company email address to keep the footprint current.

- What is a multi-state operator (MSO)?
- A cannabis company that holds licences and runs operations in more than one US state. Federal law bars moving cannabis across state lines, so each state is a self-contained business: its own cultivation, processing and retail licences, its own supply chain and usually its own store banner. The largest MSOs are publicly traded on Canadian exchanges (CSE, TSX or Cboe Canada) with US OTC listings, because US exchanges have generally not listed plant-touching companies; Trulieve's 2026 NYSE listing (TRLV) is an early exception.
- Which are the largest dispensary chains in the United States?
- By store count as the companies themselves report it: Trulieve (about 200 stores, medical-focused, Florida-heavy), Curaleaf (about 177 across 14 states), Vireo Growth (170+ under Green Goods and Vireo Health, with pending deals that would take it to roughly 270), Verano (160+ as MÜV and Zen Leaf), Green Thumb (110+ RISE stores) and AYR Wellness (80+). Below them, Cresco's Sunnyside, Jushi's Beyond Hello, Ascend and STIIIZY each run 40–75 stores.
- Who are the biggest cannabis retailers in Canada?
- High Tide's Canna Cabana is the largest private chain with more than 220 stores across five provinces, followed by SNDL's retail arms — Nova Cannabis (Value Buds and other banners, 100+) and the franchised Spiritleaf (60+) — then Tokyo Smoke and Fire & Flower, both operating under new owners after 2023–24 restructurings. Quebec's SQDC (about 109 stores) is that province's sole retailer, and Cannabis NB (32 corporate stores) runs most of New Brunswick's.
- Why does one company use different store names in different states?
- Usually because the stores were acquired with their names attached and the local brand had value, or because a state's licensing history made a separate identity useful. Verano trades as MÜV in Florida and Zen Leaf everywhere else; Jushi runs Beyond Hello, Nature's Remedy and NuLeaf; Parallel owns Surterra Wellness, NETA and goodblend. The profile's "Banners" line lists every name a company trades under so you can match a storefront to its parent.
- Can I use this to find a dispensary near me?
- No — these are corporate profiles for people who sell to, invest in or work for dispensary operators. For store hours, menus and locations, follow the links to the chain's own site; every profile links the corporate site and the retail banner site where they differ.
- How do I add or claim a dispensary listing?
- Any licensed dispensary operator can be listed free, from a single store to a national chain. Use the claim form from an email address at the company's own domain; a person checks the licence and the site before the listing shows as claimed, and claimed operators can keep their footprint, banners and store count current themselves.
