Track-and-trace platform combining RFID tagging with software for cannabis supply chain compliance in state-regulated markets.

About Metrc

Metrc is a government-contracted track-and-trace system for regulated cannabis, combining RFID plant and package tags with cloud software that gives state regulators end-to-end supply-chain visibility from seed to sale. Licensed cultivators, manufacturers, distributors, testing labs, and retailers report inventory movements to Metrc in states where it is mandated. Additional offerings include Metrc Connect (API), Metrc Retail ID (consumer-facing product verification and recall), Metrc Learn training, and an annual User Exchange event series.

Metrc originated at Franwell in Lakeland, Florida, won Colorado’s first state contract, and now holds contracts in roughly 28 jurisdictions including California, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, and Massachusetts. It is a regulator-facing compliance system rather than an ERP; third-party software connects through its validated-integrator program. In 2025 Metrc’s parent formed BT Government to take over BioTrack’s state contracts.
