Patronscan

Patronscan was founded in 2005 to keep fake IDs out of licensed venues and now describes its network as the largest ID scanning network in North America. It reports more than 500 million scans and operation in over 300 cities across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Its customers include bars, casinos, liquor stores, hotels, retailers and cannabis dispensaries. Patronscan does not publish its headquarters location or parent company.

For dispensaries, the scanner checks age, expiry and authenticity of government-issued identification, including driver's licenses, passports, military cards and status cards, and uses OCR on the face of the ID to help catch fakes. Recurrent-visit alerts track daily purchases and warn staff when a customer returns more than once in a day, which helps a counter stay within a customer's daily limit. Challenge questions can be set for every scan, scanned data is deleted automatically, and the business receives a daily demographic report by email.

A dispensary evaluating counter-level age and purchase-limit controls can request pricing and a conversation with a representative through the site; no price list is published. Patronscan reports that its scanner verifies North American government IDs within seconds, and it lists passports, military cards and status cards among accepted documents. Daily demographic reports and automatic data deletion are part of the dispensary offering described on its industry page.
