About Hash Bash
Hash Bash is an annual cannabis rally held on the University of Michigan Diag in Ann Arbor on the first Saturday of April. It began in 1972 in response to a Michigan Supreme Court ruling on marijuana sentencing and has continued yearly since, making it one of the longest-running cannabis gatherings in the US. The event is free and open to the public.
The rally features speakers, music, poetry, and activism focused on federal decriminalization and ending drug-war-era penalties. In recent years Hash Bash has partnered with the Great Lakes Expungement Network to help attendees pursue record expungement for past cannabis offenses. Future editions follow the same first-Saturday-in-April pattern.
