About California Cannabis Awards
The California Cannabis Awards (formerly branded the CA State Fair Cannabis Awards) is a state-sanctioned cannabis product competition held alongside the California State Fair at Cal Expo in Sacramento. It is produced by Fair Play Ventures with presenting partner embarc Events, in partnership with the state fair, and launched in 2021 as the first officially state-sanctioned cannabis competition in the US.
Entries are judged across flower and product categories, with gold, silver and bronze medals and a Golden Bear trophy awarded at a live ceremony during the fair. The competition runs alongside the California Cannabis Experience, a multi-week on-site exhibit and consumption area for fairgoers 21 and over.
