Sorting Robotics

Sorting Robotics builds automation equipment for cannabis manufacturers and says every machine is manufactured, tuned and checked within 20 miles of its Los Angeles shop. The company dates itself to 2018, when three engineers with a card-sorting machine were accepted into Y Combinator, and says its founders spent the 2010s building landers, rovers and manipulators at NASA and JPL before turning to cannabis in 2020. Its about page names Nohtal Partansky as co-founder and chief executive, lists 15 employees, and reports five products shipped and more than 250 machines deployed.

The Jiko+ is the company's patented pre-roll and hash-hole infusion machine; the homepage rates infusion at 1,200 units an hour with heat control for high-viscosity rosin and hash. Stardust automates kief coating at 1,600 joints an hour and works with kief, bubble hash or other coatings using distillate or another binder. WavePak is an automated cone-filling machine that reworks the knockbox, rated at 4,000 an hour. Phillup, listed as coming soon, is meant to infuse pre-rolls, fill vape cartridges and pack rosin jars on one platform, and Telti is a teachable robot arm for packaging and line tasks.

Sorting Robotics does every installation in person and sends technicians to train each customer's operating team on site. It does not publish machine prices. Its online shop sells parts, cleaning supplies, warranty renewals and Moonglue, its own pre-roll binder, at $100 a gallon for most flavors. An ROI calculator and a machine planner on the site help buyers size a line before booking a demo. Customers quoted on its site include the chief executive of Delta Munchies and the founder of HoneyKing.
