Merrco Payments

Merrco was founded in 2016 and acquired Payfirma, a Canadian small-business processor, in 2018, forming Merrco Payfirma. Its about page calls Merrco the global leader in compliant cannabis payments, a claim the company makes itself, and says it holds more than 50% national coverage of Canada's cannabis market. It adds that since April 2021 it has also served CBD and ancillary cannabis businesses in the US. Co-CEOs Kiki Plytas, who is also COO, and Nicholas Georgakakis, also CFO, lead the company. The site shows PayFacto branding beside Merrco's and sends job seekers to payfacto.com, but does not describe the relationship.

In Canada, where cannabis sales are federally legal, Merrco serves licensed producers, dispensaries and nutraceutical sellers with in-person terminals that take chip and PIN, tap and digital wallets such as Apple Pay. It also offers online payment acceptance, PayHQ (its payments management platform), Barnet POS and merchant financing. Its cannabis page says it helps clients stay compliant in regulated industries and offers producers a seed-to-sale solution with customizable controls. Merrco lists 20 integration partners, including Cova, Greenline POS, TECHPOS, Buddi, Dutchie, Indica Online, Leafly, Weedmaps, SpringBig, Shopify and Canix.

Merrco does not publish pricing; merchants request a quote through its contact form, and resellers can join a partner program. Its own pages conflict on location: the about page places headquarters in downtown Toronto with remote staff in Vancouver, Calgary and New York, while the footer and cannabis page list an office in Verdun, Quebec, so this listing leaves the city blank. The site does not name customers. A separate page on mitigating risk covers chargebacks and fraud, and a developer portal supports partners building integrations.
