CannGen Insurance Services, LLC lists its office on Sierra Gardens Drive in Roseville, California, and says it was founded in 2008. On its about page it describes itself as the first and longest-standing cannabis-dedicated managing general underwriter in the United States. An MGU underwrites on behalf of carriers and sells through brokers; CannGen says it works only with carriers rated A by A.M. Best and serves businesses in all 50 states. It also runs separate sites for Canada and Europe, and an interactive map on its site shows coverage availability state by state.

CannGen's workers' compensation accepts all cannabis, CBD and hemp class codes on multi-state policies, with new ventures welcome, mid-term moves accepted and monthly reporting available. Its package combines property, crop and general liability: property and crop capacity runs to $42 million per location in combined TIV on an A+ XV rated carrier, crop coverage spans every plant stage from seed to finished stock for indoor and durable greenhouse grows, and GL is written on an occurrence form from $1 million/$1 million to $2 million/$2 million, with separate excess up to $4 million. It also offers products liability, commercial auto, management liability and CannGenPRO errors and omissions.

Eligible classes include cultivators, wholesale distributors, labs, third-party processors and harvesters, transporters and non-storefront delivery, lessor's-risk landlords, manufacturers and dispensaries, including on-site consumption. CannGen does not cover outdoor crops. Brokers get appointed and submit through CannGen, and business owners can request a quote through the site. CannGen does not publish rates, though it lists property deductibles from $2,500 to $50,000 and general liability deductibles starting at $2,500, with square-footage rating available on general liability.
